A Texas Christmas: Planting Seeds of Hope for the New Year
A Season of Gratitude and Growth
The fences are mended, the harvest is in, and the distinct chill of a Texas December has finally settled over the pastures. There is something undeniably special about Christmas in the agricultural community. It isn’t just about the lights wrapped around the front porch posts or the presents under the tree—it’s about the quiet moment of reflection after a long, hard year of work.
At the PGM Foundation, this Christmas feels particularly poignant. 2025 tested us all. From weather challenges to the uncertainty of the recent government shutdown, our community faced hurdles that would have broken a weaker spirit.
But looking back, we don't see the struggle. We see the resilience. We see the neighbors who helped neighbors. We see the students who kept studying and the families who kept farming.
The Greatest Gift: The Future of Texas
In the hustle of the holidays, it is easy to get lost in the commercial rush. But at PGM, we are reminded daily that the most valuable gifts aren't the ones wrapped in paper. The true gifts are the young people in our classrooms and barns who are preparing to lead this state.
When we look at our scholarship recipients and our livestock project participants, we see the embodiment of the Christmas spirit:
Faith: The belief that planting a seed (or an idea) today will yield a harvest tomorrow.
Stewardship: The commitment to caring for the land and the livestock, even when no one is watching.
Community: The understanding that we are stronger together than we are apart.
This season, we celebrate every student who woke up before dawn to feed their animals, those students that burned the midnight oil studying, every veteran transitioning into a new agricultural career, and every donor who made those journeys possible.
A Seat at Our Table
We often talk about the PGM Foundation as a family, and we mean it. Whether you are a long-time donor, a student applying for your first scholarship, or a community partner, you have a seat at our table.
As we gather with our own families this month, we are counting you among our blessings. Because of your support, we have been able to:
Keep the Lights On: Provide stability for students during the federal shutdown uncertainty.
Expand Reach: Offer more scholarships to inner city students who might otherwise miss out on higher education.
Honor Service: Continue our support for families finding peace and purpose through agriculture.
Looking Toward the New Year
As the calendar turns to 2026, the work begins anew. The major stock shows—Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Humble—are just around the corner. A new semester brings new tuition bills and new opportunities.
We are entering the New Year with a full heart and a clear mission. We invite you to carry the spirit of Christmas—that spirit of giving, hope, and renewal—into January and beyond.
"The joy of brightening other lives becomes for us the magic of the holidays." — W.C. Jones
From Our Family to Yours
May your coffee be hot, your family be close, and your blessings be abundant. Whether you are celebrating in a city apartment or a ranch house at the end of a dirt road, we wish you peace.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
The PGM Foundation Team
